I placed my hands on the stonewhere they laid Him.
What I felt there is the reason this rosary exists.
Child of God,
Not long ago I stood before the Stone of Anointing in Jerusalem. The stone where our Lord was prepared for burial after His Passion.
Pilgrims come from every corner of the earth to kneel there. Some press their foreheads to it and stay a long while. Some weep.
I placed my hands on it, and I prayed.
What came to me there was not my own prayer at all.
It was the weight of everyone else's.
All the souls who long to walk this ground, and never will.
The distance. The cost. The years. A whole lifetime of Sundays, and never once this stone beneath their hands.
And then the mission was given to me. It was very simple.
"If the faithful cannot come to Jerusalem, then let us bring Jerusalem to them."
The mission, as it was givenI came home and began the work.
Sourcing the soil. Finding makers who would seal it properly, so it could never shift or spill. Making certain each one was blessed before it was sent.
Today it goes out to homes all over the world. To people who will never make the journey, and who hold a little of the ground anyway.
One is being prepared for you now.
With my prayers,
The Rosary of Jerusalem
Solid faceted hematite, weighted in the hand. A finely made crucifix.
And sealed at the centre, reddish-brown earth from the Holy Land — the soil itself, not a picture of it.
Blessed in prayer before it leaves us.
